View through Europeana Collections
Cogs with four arrows, where it is in the catalogue general: “An arrow cog with 4 arrows from Piratori. The type is similar to the previous numbers 16 and 17 except therein, that the cogret itself is narrower.” It is thus said to be intended for the bear feast. The cogret is wooden with wrapped fistbands and provided with closed-surged side pieces with cut and broken ornamented. The arrows are of pipes with guide feathers and are fitted with bamboo tips (except C and D) lashed to bone disposition. According to the catalog, the arrowheads are intended for poison.
There is a similar coke in Sugiyama 1992. Ethnologica band 12 1987 also depicts similar on s 52, fig 19 and 20, with the designation “push.” At Kayano 1978 at pp. 156-57 there are cogs called “ikayop” and “yar-ikayop” respectively. Pilar appears to have the designation “ay,” see Ethonologica band 12 1987 p 53-54. (PH)
