Diversity of short and long-horned grasshoppers of Arunachal Pradesh, India

The present study aimed to study the diversity of short-horned and long-horned grasshoppers of Arunachal Pradesh. Surveys were conducted from April 2009 to July 2010 at three different districts of Arunachal Pradesh, involving seven major localities. Thirty-two species of short-horned and long-horned grasshoppers have been recorded. Among the 32 species, 25 species are short-horned grasshoppers, while 7 species are long-horned grasshoppers. Overall the 32 species of grasshoppers come under 26 genera belonging to 11 subfamilies and spread over 3 families from the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The distribution of some species differed markedly from one site to another.
