Abstract
Delarivier Manley was the daughter of Sir Roger Manley, Lieutenant-Governor of the Channel Islands (where she claims to have been born) from 1667 to 1672. His military career was one of modest distinction: he went on to serve as a Captain in the Royal Regiment of Foot Guards, and as governor of Landguard Fort in Suffolk.
