Network Softwarization and Virtualization: Management of QoS in Wireless and Mobile Networks
View through CrossRef
The significant evolution of QoS management methods in wireless and mobile networks has relied on developments in various technologies and frameworks based on network softwarization and virtualization. This work details technologies, namely network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) that encourage a dynamic, efficient, and flexible network architecture. Furthermore, the developments in these domains that benefited efficient resource utilization together with providing QoS management solutions required to guarantee optimal network performance have been discussed in detail. The architectural advancements of futuristic networks and their implementations, such as the separation of the control and data planes in SDN and resource virtualization in NFV to achieve desired QoS, the evolution of OpenFlow protocol, QoS mechanisms, and the related works done by standardizing organization, have also been covered. This work also includes use case scenarios for these technologies and their utilization in wireless and mobile networks. Managing quality-of-service (QoS) concerns in complex networks to enhance the network’s agility and security has also been discussed. It further details the implementations supported by edge computing and artificial intelligence applications.
Title: Network Softwarization and Virtualization: Management of QoS in Wireless and Mobile Networks
