Më 25 gusht 2024, u nda nga jeta Prof. Dr. Genciana Abazi-Egro, një figurë e shquar në fushën e studimeve orientale dhe në albanologji. Kontributet e saj shkencore kanë lënë gjurmë në studimet akademike dhe në edukimin e gjeneratave të reja. Duhet theksuar se puna dhe veprat e saj janë pjesë e kurikulave të Departamentit të Orientalistikës në Universitetin e Prishtinës. Prof. Abazi-Egro do të kujtohet si një studiuese brilante e dijeve orientale, sidomos e shkrimeve shqipe me alfabet arab. Librat dhe studimet e saj do të vazhdojnë të jenë referencë për çdo studiues të kësaj fushe. Me këtë rast, redaksia e revistës Studime Orientale shpreh ngushëllimet më të sinqerta për familjen, miqtë dhe kolegët e saj. Sigurisht që humbja e saj ka krijuar një boshllëk të madh për komunitetin akademik të studimeve orientale, por trashëgimia e saj shkencore do të vazhdojë të mbetet udhërrëfyes për studiuesit e rinj dhe të ardhshëm. Në nder të figurës së saj, më poshtë sjellim një shkrim përkujtimor të Dr. Fatos Dibran-it, botuar në portalin peizazhe.com, i cili pasqyron jetën dhe veprën e vlefshme të Prof. Genciana Abazi-Egro. Sigurisht që humbja e saj ka krijuar një boshllëk të madh për komunitetin akademik të studimeve orientale, por trashëgimia e saj shkencore do të vazhdojë të mbetet udhërrëfyes për studiuesit e rinj dhe të ardhshëm.
