«The first muravyovschina»: the conflict of commander-in-chief M. A. Muravyov in Kiev with the soviet government in 1918

View through CrossRef
Based on archival documents, the article shows the relationship between Commander-in-Chief M. A. Muravyov and the People's Secretariat (Government of Soviet Ukraine) during their joint stay in Kiev in early 1918. These relationships quickly led to a serious conflict that threatened to escalate into an armed conflict. As a result, the conflict was suspended, but not completely resolved, which laid the groundwork for Muravyov's next conflict with the Bolsheviks as commander of the Eastern Front. During this conflict, Muravyov rebelled and was killed as a result. In this work, the author refers to the Kiev plot, without which it is impossible to understand the events of July 1918, known as the "Muravyov uprising in Simbirsk", and also introduces the concept of the "first Muravyov" in early 1918.
