Navigating the Digital Wave: Understanding Digital Detox in Pakistan's Software Industry

View through CrossRef
This study investigates the dynamics of digital detox behaviour within Pakistan's software industry, focusing on the interplay of behavioural intention, employee motivation, social influence, performance expectancy, and facilitating conditions. Employing the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) as a framework, the research examines how these factors collectively influence the intention and action of digital detox among software professionals. A cross-sectional survey was conducted, gathering data from 302 employees across various software companies in Pakistan. The study's findings reveal that employee motivation, social influence, and performance expectancy have positive impact on behavioural intention, which positively influences digital detox. Furthermore, facilitating conditions were found to play a crucial moderating role in the transition from intention to digital detox. The study's implications extend to organizational policy-making, employee wellness programs, and the broader discourse on digital wellness in the workplace.
