Paul Betyna has created a child portrait here. The pretty, friendly child’s face with a spicy smile is very appealing. Not only the head, which can be seen here in the half profile, but also the upper body is shown. The child wears a red sweater with patterned collar. The picture is signed on the top right: “Betyna 42.”
Paul Betyna was born in 1887 in Bromberg (near Berlin) and died in 1967 in Wernigerode. He graduated from the Paris Academy and Berlin, where he worked until 1943. By bombing it swallowed him to Wernigerode. He was a freelance artist and landscape painter. (Wernigerode Harz Museum)
