Abstract
The Software Productivity Consortium (Consortium) was founded in 1985 by a group of the United States' leading companies in the aerospace, defense, electronics, and systems integration industries. The Consortium's membership has continued to expand since its founding, and now includes nearly 90 leading corporations in the telecommunications, aerospace/defense, electronics, and other industries, as well as many government agency and university affiliates. In both its original charter and its accomplishments to date, the Consortium represents a unique national resource for organizations facing the many challenges of designing and deploying large, software‐intensive systems. The Consortium was created to develop and transfer technologies needed to achieve these improvements and promote knowledge exchange and transfer across industry segments, federal and state government, and academia.
The Consortium is a nonprofit organization, located in Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) complex adjacent to Dulles International Airport near Washington, DC.
