Avram Iancu și spectacolele de reconstituire istorică/reenactment (1881-2024)

Avram Iancu and Historical Reenactment Events (1881–2024) The current study contextualizes the occurrence of historical reenactment processions in Romania, starting with the first performance in 1881 and continuing with the great historical reenactment corteges organized in 1906, 1922 and 1929, analysing their goals and contents. In the foreground is the idea to exhibit before the general public a synthesis of the national epic, focusing on the heroes’ gallery as it was represented during the periods concerned. From the year 1922 (the year of the Coronation Festivities), Avram Iancu, a symbol of Transylvania, entered the exclusive list of national heroes. Other events depicted in the current article which led to the representation of Avram Iancu as a national hero took place in 1923; much later, during Nicolae Ceaușescu’s regime; and in recent years.
