A “zoologia imaginária” em narrativas de Sultana Levy Rosenblatt e de Elizabeth Azize/The “imaginary zoology” in narratives by Sultana Levy Rosenblatt and Elizabeth Azize

Este trabalho propõe um estudo crítico-analítico referente à existência dos animais imaginários no conto “Mãe de rei”, publicado em No Pará-Parô (1986), de Sultana Levy Rosenblatt, e no romance E Deus chorou sobre o rio (2019), de Elizabeth Azize. A partir de uma metodologia de natureza bibliográfica, segundo uma abordagem comparatista dos textos, tem-se em vista os estudos de Greg Garrard (2006), Maria Esther Maciel (2008; 2011; 2016; 2023), Jesus Paes Loureiro (2015), Alessandra Conde (2024; 2025), entre outros. Considera-se, para tal fim, como se apresentam nas narrativas das escritoras, Rosenblatt e Azize, de ascendência judaico-marroquina e sírio-libanesa, elementos do imaginário amazônico não-humano – o boto e a Cobra-Grande – e a relação desses seres em contato com os humanos e a natureza. This paper proposes a critical-analytical study of the existence of imaginary animals in the short story “Mãe de rei” (Mother of the King), published in No Pará-Parô (1986), by Sultana Levy Rosenblatt, and in the novel E Deus chorou sobre o rio (And God Wept Over the River) (2019), by Elizabeth Azize. Based on a bibliographic methodology, following a comparative approach to the texts, we consider the studies of Greg Garrard (2006), Maria Esther Maciel (2008; 2011; 2016; 2023), Jesus Paes Loureiro (2015), Alessandra Conde (2024; 2025), among others. To this end, we consider how elements of the non-human Amazonian imagination—the boto and the Cobra-Grande—and the relationship of these beings in contact with humans and nature are presented in the narratives of the writers Rosenblatt and Azize, of Jewish-Moroccan and Syrian-Lebanese descent.
