PEN Hemingway Remarks: Delivered at the John F. Kennedy Library, 6 April 2014

Each year the Ernest Hemingway Foundation and PEN New England award the PEN Hemingway prize for the year’s best first work of fiction. The award is presented at a gala reception at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, Massachusetts. The 2014 PEN Hemingway prize was awarded to NoViolet Bulawayo for her book, We Need New Names (Back Bay Books). This year we are pleased to present remarks offered by Scott Simon at the luncheon preceding the award ceremony. Simon is a noted American journalist and host of Weekend Edition Saturday on National Public Radio.
