Performances of Ukrainian wresttlers in the USA in the 1920-1930

The article analyzes the performances of Ukrainian wrestlers in the USA during the 1920s and 1930s. In those years, many wrestlers from Ukraine performed in American sports arenas (in fact, at that time Ukraine was occupied by the USSR, Poland, Romania, and Czechoslovakia). Among them are Ivan Zaliznyak, Volodymyr Kyrylenko, Volodyslav Maksym’yak, Ilko Telychyn, Vasyl Rudoy, Ivan Piddubny, and Oleksandr Harkavenko. The performance of each of them is a unique opportunity to popularize Ukraine on the international stage and abroad in particular. Because the geopolitical realities of that time were difficult for the Ukrainian people. Therefore, Ukrainian wrestlers, performing all over the world, had the opportunity to carry the truth about genocide, occupation, and abuse of Ukrainians. In addition, Ukrainians have long been famous for the supernatural physical strength of their heroes. Therefore, it is not surprising that a large number of famous wrestlers are Ukrainians. Their victories amazed thousands of spectators, their achievements became the number one news in the media all over the world. A special place in the companion victories of Ukrainian wrestlers is occupied by the USA. In this country, during the 20- 30s, Ukrainian wrestlers gained their victories, fame, fans, and admirers. That is, they became the favorites of thousands of spectators. This was a good and important advertisement for Ukraine outside the "iron curtain" of the USSR. Significant successes in performances in the USA in the 20-30s of the 20th century were achieved by Ivan Poddubny, Ivan Zaliznyak, Oleksandr Harkavenko and many other dignitaries. Their sporting achievements were honored by the American public, sports experts, and the press. Concerts, press conferences, meetings, and interviews were organized in their honor in the USA. Honoring the many years of experience of Ukrainian wrestlers, Americans repeatedly organized anniversary celebrations in honor of their glorious career. These were grandiose artistic events, in which world-famous singers, actors, and cultural figures from different countries of the world participated. It is noteworthy that among the rich repertoire of artists were Ukrainian songs, dances, uniforms, and performances. Therefore, the analysis and study of the features of the performances of Ukrainian wrestlers in the USA in the first half of the 20th century is relevant, in order to realize their roots and the true history of Ukrainian sports.
