Promoting beef cattle raising in the concentrated farming areas of Hanoi city
View through CrossRef
The study was conducted in concentrated beef cattle farming areas of Hanoi city. The authors used the quantitative research method by taking steps such as directly investigating information through questionnaires in 6 communes and 210 beef cattle raising households in concentrated farming areas, processing information by Excel software, analysing information using descriptive statistical and comparative methods. The research results showed that although the number of beef cattle has not increased, the output, quality, and structure of the beef cattle herd have been significantly improved. However, beef cattle farming in concentrated areas of Hanoi city still has many inadequacies in scale, technical process, linkage, supply, and consumption. That leads to uncontrolled quality, no biosafety certification, and planned slaughterhouses not buying cows from Hanoi farmers. In order to promote beef cattle farming in concentrated areas of Hanoi city, the study recommends the following: increase the scale of livestock production associated with the development of high-quality beef cattle; promote biosecurity in beef farming; develop links between raising and consuming beef cattle; increase support from the city’ budget for beef cattle farming.
