“Cyberfeminism,” a term coined in the early 1990s, refers to a broad set of perspectives involving new online technologies and gender equality. Arising in the context of the Internet, which was surfacing during this period as a mass communication medium, cyberfeminism was on the cutting edge of creativity and advocacy. Although it is now somewhat dated, the combination of “cyber” and “feminism” represented an exciting new development in the history of women's liberation and digital media.
