Studies on Photo-reactivity of Fe/Pumice photocatalyst for Indigo carmine Photodegradation
View through CrossRef
Abstract
Fe/Pumice photocatalyst was prepared by impregnation. Each photocatalyst was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, surface elemental mapping, surface area and laser particle sizer including pumice. Then, the photodegradation was carried out using Indigo carmine (IC) solution with sunlight, visible light and the addition of H2O2. From the results, the active sites belonged to Fe in pumice, and Fe2O3+ FeOOH in Fe/ Pumice photocatalysts. The 10% Fe/ Pumice+ sunlight gave 77.9% of IC photodegradation and it increased to 100% with H2O2. It contributed to H2O2 activation on Fe species to generate active hydroxyl radicals. This photo-Fenton mechanism plays role on the interaction of Fe species with H2O2 and photon irradiation. In conclusion, the Fe/Pumice photocatalysts enable the application of pumice to control water pollution and comply with Sustainable Development Goal/ United Nation on Clean Water/ Sanitation.

Description:
The 10% Fe/ Pumice+ sunlight gave 77.
9% of IC photodegradation and it increased to 100% with H2O2.
