Ejiri: Distant view of the harbour of Shimizu (Station 18, Print 19)

View through Europeana Collections
Hiroshigega HiHiHiSheet 19, Station 18. This picture belongs to the so-called semi-cursive Tōkaidō series. The individual Tōkaidō series of Hiroshige were given these additional names in order to be able to distinguish them more easily. The series was published throughout by the publishing house Ezakiya. Later, Ezakiya sold his rights to these prints to the publisher Yamadaya Shōjirō Später Später Später Später Später Später, who relaunched the series with larger and smaller changes. Although the title speaks of a view of the harbor, there is no one to see far and wide. Everything is covered with dense snow and the travelers carry all the hats and coats to protect themselves from snow and cold. A number of houses can be seen in the background, which are also covered with thick snow.
