Retrospective and Prospects of the Society of Educational Gerontology for 10 Years

The purpose of this study is to look back on the history of the Korean Society of Educational Gerontology for the 10th anniversary of its foundation and to suggest the future direction of the society. First, we looked back on the germination history of the Group for Educational Gerontology’ that began in 2001 to provide information and exchange on educational gerontology, the Research Group for Educational Gerontology' as a precursor to the society, and the founding of the Korean Society of Educational Gerontology in 2014. Second, we looked back on the history of the beginning of the society from the 1st to the 2nd presidents from the foundation of the society until it was selected as a candidate for registration by the Korea Research Foundation. Third, we looked back on the history of the growth period of the society from the 3rd to the 4th presidents, which grew the society's extension while being selected as a registered site for the Korea Research Foundation. Fourth, we looked back on the leap period of the current 5th presidency, which established the qualification course for lifelong educator for the elderly and developed the internal and external influence of the society. Finally, looking at the next 10 years, we presented the tasks left for the Korean Society of Educational Gerontology.
