L’articolo ricostruisce la storia del codice Paris, BNF, gr. 2998, vergato a Costantinopoli da Giorgio di Cipro e quattro suoi collaboratori prima del 1283: esso appartenne ad Andronico Callisto, Baldassar Migliavacca, Giovanni Abramio, Jean Veillart, Fédéric Morel, Pierre de Nancel ed Étienne Baluze (di Jean Veillart e Pierre de Nancel, pressoché sconosciuti negli studi sul libro manoscritto e a stampa, si offre anche una biografia essenziale). Fédéric Morel, in particolare, usò il cimelio per l’edizione in due tomi di Libanio, il che ci permette di ricostruire la sua prassi tipografica: i manoscritti da lui scelti per la
constitutio textus
venivano corredati di indicazioni numeriche finalizzate a costruire la definitiva pagina a stampa. Infine, grazie ad alcuni manufatti usati da Morel in sede di edizione, si è identificata la sua mano nei Paris, BNF, gr. 2535, 2998 e 3014 (quest’ultimo, probabilmente, fu di sua proprietà).
