Concluding Comments

View through CrossRef
This concluding chapter to the book reflects on the key points which have been made, and considers what the research findings tell us about the value and effectiveness of cold case reviews, including the case for expanding or cutting back on this form of policing. Here it will be especially noted that it is for the victims and victims’ families that cold case review work should continue. The chapter also considers cold case reviews within the context of changes in policing more generally, in particular, as part of the broader evolution in police investigative practice driven by technological developments and suggesting what this now means for social control and social order.
