Investigation of Vachadi Ghrita’s Clinical Effectiveness in Mandabuddhitva in Children with Mental Retardation

Having the social component being the most significant, mental retardation is a multifaceted issue having psychological, physiological, educational, and social components. It is an extremely serious social issue. In all castes and communities, it is equally prevalent in the homes of the wealthy and the impoverished, the educated and the illiterate. The management of these children is greatly impacted by the incalculable amount of anguish, suffering, and emotional upheaval it causes to the parents and other caregivers. In contrast to the majority of cases of mental degenerative conditions, which show a downward trend in their mental state, it is quite reassuring to know that children with mental defects can make significant progress. Although no effective treatment has been claimed to treat mental retardation, by the modern medicine, but many drugs mentioned in Ayurvedic classics do claim to promote buddhi and medha. Vachadi Ghrita is a remedy mentioned in Uttarsthana in Ashtang Hrudya for mental retardation for Children. So the present study is an attempt to study clinical efficacy of Vachadi Ghrita in Mental retardation in children. It was proven statistically significant.
