Endovaginal Sonography: Beyond the Uterus and Ovaries

View through CrossRef
Endovaginal sonography has played an integral part in diagnostic imaging. It has proven effective in diagnosing obstetrical and gynecological pathologies. But the use of endovaginal sonography to image non-gynecological organs is relatively unknown. Using the endovaginal approach to image the bowel and the lower urinary system allows for the opportunity to diagnose pathologies that present with non-specific signs and symptoms. To provide optimal patient care, the sonographer performing the examination must be educated on what can be assessed with endovaginal sonography. The aim of this article is to refresh sonographers’ knowledge regarding possible uses of endovaginal ultrasonography beyond the uterus and ovaries.
