Water strainer, similar in shape to ordinary Japanese scoop but with a base of white silk cloth. The upper end of the shaft paper wrapped. (General Catalogue) Sil for tea ceremony use, designed as a regular Japanese strainer with silk cloth in hemp or linen. The sieve is swept and its handle is completely wrapped with paper. The handle also runs straight through the strainer itself.
