View through Europeana Collections
The portrait depicts the artist Nils Larson, a self-portrait for young years that shows a fry, perhaps in the age of 15 - 20. The face in half profile, over the left shoulder facing the viewer. That Nils Larson had a back injury is clearly stated. Dressed in dark clothes. In the background a hinted green plant with red flowers.
The artist’s father and mother, Anders Larson, acting and master builder, (1828 - 1897) in Tanum and Hedda, born Christian daughter in 1844 in Tanum, allowed the residential building to be built around 1850. In the house there was business and then mail in a special extension. Nils Larson had his studio on the second floor. The house with studio remains in a relatively untouched state (2007).
Nils Larson lived in Stockholm during his years of study and is found in 1890 at Skansen 11, Klara rote 2.
The donor’s grandmother, Elise Larson, born in 1886, was the younger sister of Nils Larson. Elise gathered much of Nils Larson’s artistic estate. She moved to another house in Sannäs that Nils Larson had drawn her year.
The house had a special roof that was designed to blend with the mountain behind. The paintings in this gift hung in this house.
The gift offer also featured portraits of the father and another portrait of the mother as well as some illustrations of books or newspapers with ancient or fairytale content, see the Bilagepärmen UM031295.
