Undersökningsyta, arkeologisk undersökning i kvarteret Örtedalen, Uppsala 1999

Photo from the southeast, A 4144, pole hole, A 3114, Ingvar Mårald in the background In connection with the 1999 excavations in the Örtedalen district, Uppsala, a section of the road towards Old Uppsala also examined parts of two plots with a building from the 1300s onwards. The area surveyed measured about 160 m² and the total thickness of the cultural layers was between 0.6 and 0.8 m. The plot boundary appears to have been established in the 1200s and maintained until the regulation of the 1600s. The investigation has shown that the area was built earlier than it was previously imagined and that the medieval city is not yet known in all parts.
