View through Europeana Collections
A larger torso on a high pedestal on the large courtyard met the visitors. It was one of four sculptures that Carl Milles (1875 - 1955) had on the exposition - one of his variants of the Solar Catcher (The Sun Singer) created in the early 1920s.
"Industrialists and the representatives of the trade felt in 1928 ripe to show off their products at an exhibition. This was opened on Friday, 15 June at the meadows between Skansbergen and the Harbour Station. Architect for the exhibition was Principal Thelander, Chairman of the Exhibition Committee was Axel Lange. This exhibition ran throughout the summer and ended on Sunday, 19 August in a glorious summer weather - unfortunately the weather had not been the best during the exhibition. The text taken from the book “Uddevalla sooner - a picture book” compiled by Hugo Olsson (1983, 1998), p. 154.
Rector (a drawing teacher before) Anselm Teodor (Tedde/Thedde) Thelander (born 21 April 1885 in Stockholm, died 10 January 1969 in Uddevalla), Uddevalla. Portrait see UMFA54477: 0435 and UMFA54477: 0519
