18 Sections of an Architectural Frieze
View through Harvard Museums
Simple architectural frieze in many sections, worked in two registers. Top register contains a continuous, straight laurel garland bordered on its top edge by a plain fillet. This register is separated from a lower, undecorated register by a narrow ridge. The surface of the lower register is relatively rough. It retains chisel marks and also shallow indentations, likely indicating that it held a facing.
