Fr. prof. related dr hab. Jan Związek – biographer and regionalist of Częstochowa-Wieluń region
View through CrossRef
The paper presents the scientific achievements of Fr. prof. dr hab. Jan Związek, historian, outstanding representative of Polish science, biographer and regionalist, who died in full creative power in 2020. Most of the studies concern the widely understood Częstochowa-Wieluń region. When presenting the scientific achievements of this region, two areas of his activity should be distinguished. The first is biography. The Professor wrote many biographies of clergymen but most of the biographies concern priests persecuted during the years of the functioning of the totalitarian systems - nazi and communist. The second research area is the history of region and parishes. Parallel to the research, Fr. prof. Jan Związek lectured at the Jan Długosz Academy in Częstochowa at the Faculty of History and Philosophy. In the years 1993-2010 he was the promoter of 304 master theses, mainly on the history of the town and parish, and the bibliography of selected priests and lay people active in the Częstochowa-Wieluń region. The subject of the works are presented in this paper.
