Baul is basically a Sadhaka. No one becomes a Baul just by mere learning few songs and few concepts. It is a life-long search into the ultimate. Since it is a long search each school tries to co-opt them as their own namely the mainstream religions. This article tries to show some light on the Baul Sadhana as the wealth of the subaltern communities which are basically opposed to the Vedic and the mainstream religious traditions.
