View through CrossRef
This letter is from Boniface, the great monk and missionary to the Germanic people, to Pope Zacharias in the year prior to the pope’s death. This work not only illustrates the status and role of the pope and Boniface but also addresses several pastoral and political challenges Boniface encountered while in the lands of the Franks. It offers insights into the various dimensions of missionary work and shows the challenging ecclesial and political landscape that had to be navigated by Boniface and others.
