Reseña crítica de "Lección sobre la lección", de Pierre Bourdieu

View through CrossRef
This critical review addresses Leçon sur la leçon by Pierre Bourdieu, the inaugural lecture delivered in 1982 at the Collège de France, in which the author dismantles the pedagogical act and the academic field as structures of symbolic power. Far from offering an apology for institutionalized knowledge, Bourdieu advances a radical critique of the academic ritual, conceived as a stage where cultural capital is embodied and reproduced through habitus and institutions. From a perspective that intertwines the influences of Kant, Mauss, Foucault, and Canguilhem, the work becomes a meditation on sociology as an embodied critical reflection: the sociologist does not observe from the outside but is constituted by what he studies. The review examines how Bourdieu breaks with dichotomies such as micro vs. macrosociology, proposing instead a relational ontology between two states of the social: first, history objectified in things, and second, history embodied in bodies. In this sense, concepts such as habitus, field, and ontological complicity acquire a decisive structural density for understanding contemporary academic dynamics. Through a situated reading, the review contextualizes the relevance of this work in light of academic capitalism, the quantifying logic of intellectual production, the symbolic servitude imposed by publishing in fashionable outlets, and the epistemic colonialism still present in Latin America.
