Metaphor in the Supplications of Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya and Its Semantic Influence in the Key Word
View through CrossRef
The Arabic rhetorical heritage holds a distinguished status within human culture, with metaphor receiving predominant attention in its discourse. Consequently, this research will concentrate on the role of metaphor in the supplications of Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya and its semantic impact on the key word. This rhetorical device is a significant characteristic of the Imam's (peace be upon him) supplications, regarded by rhetoricians as more eloquent than simile and truth, thus occupying a high rank in the hierarchy of eloquence. The structure of the research necessitates a division into two sections, preceded by an introduction and a preface, and followed by a conclusion that presents the principal findings and a bibliography of the sources and references utilized.
In the preamble, we examined metaphor in language and terminology, elucidating its significance and foundational elements. Subsequently, we clarified the semantic idea of metaphor and categorized it into two sections, the first titled: (Explicit Metaphor) The first pertains to its semantic impact on the main term, while the second concerns the metonymic metaphor and its semantic influence on the key term. The research picked specific samples from the supplications of Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya as a field of application. The research revealed that a good metaphor enhances the core word's meanings through borrowed terms, which cannot be achieved by direct declarative language.
