ECOSSISTEMAS COSTEIROS DA ILHA SNOW, ANTÁRTICA: FÍSICA, QUÍMICA E MINERALOGIA

A maior parte das áreas livres de gelo da Antártica ocorre próximo à zona costeira, locais relevantes pelas transferências de nutrientes realizadas pela fauna. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar amostras superficiais de solos dos ecossistemas costeiros da Ilha Snow, na Antártica Marítima, a partir das suas propriedades físicas, químicas e mineralógicas. Foram coletadas cinco amostras nos terraços marinhos. Nutrientes trocáveis, pH e textura foram determinados em amostras de TFSA. Determinaram-se teores de Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Na, Si, Co, Cu, Mn, P, Pb e Zr por EDX. Identificou-se a mineralogia por DRX. Registraram-seecossistemas costeiros predominantemente arenosos, ácidos e com distrofismo generalizado.Transferências de nutrientes são essenciais para a adubação desses ambientes. O aporte nutricional pode ser identificado pelos valores elevados de P e C orgânico. Indícios de crioclastia e alterações químicas com ocorrência de esmectita, caulinita e goethita foram registrados. O monitoramento dos solos de ecossistemas costeiros fornece importantes subsídios para a identificação de alterações climáticas na Antártica.
