Forsmark Church, Forsmark’s Use, Uppland August 2004

View through Europeana Collections
The church of Forsmark was built between the years 1794 and 1800 after drawings by the architect Olof Tempelman. The church reflects the intended order in the utility environment. The lordship relative at the west end of the church room with room for the mill cartridge and his family reflect the manor’s location at the west end of the mill. The chore to the east reflects the church’s location at the east end of the mill. In between, the meanness sits in the bench quarters that corresponds to the working-houses along the utility street. Forsmark’s church has a rectangular longhouse with a slightly proliferating choir to the east and a tower to the west. The pedestal consists of graystone on the west gable. The other parts of the pedestal are stripped and decolorized in light brown bulb. The Sugar Party is uncovered with black painted, false sheet. The façades are smooth and whitewashed. The gable façades are fitted with pilasters carrying a classic dory girder, which runs around the whole church. The pilasters are also on the long sides closest to the corners. The ground floor of the tower is built as a classic temple gable with a fronton over pilasters and frieze. Over the Beef Law running around the church there is a smooth masonry party. The picture has been taken in connection with the cultural historical characterization of Forsmark’s church, Forsmark’s use, Uppland August 2004.
