Porträt Justin Töllner (1656-1718)

Portrait of Justin Töllner. The theologian is shown as a frontal chest. His strict view rests on the viewer. He wears the ornat of a clergyman, a dark robe with a cape and a buffalo, and Pileolus on his curled hair. In his right hand, he carries a small book. The portrait is oval, the frame is inscribed and rests on a pedestal, which in turn presents a German saying. Justin Töllner studied in Leipzig and then became inspector and accounting officer of the Franckeschen Foundations in Halle (Saale) from 1697 to 1718 (BS-IIa 41). The present copper engraving was executed by the Berlin copper engraver Georg Paul Busch (-1756). No template is known. Signature: Gravé par Busch.
