Stone with two hieroglyphics
View through Europeana Collections
The stone of black smoothed granite shows in the upper area the remnants of two hieroglyphics, which are worked in recessed relief: the sign nb for “everyone” or “all” or “lord” and the einconsonant sign j in the form of a reed leaf. The inscription has remained unfinished. Maybe it’s a piece of practice. The exact location in the house of the sculptor Thutmosis is unknown. It is likely that the object originates from the workshops in the south of the homestead.
