Melito of Sardis

Abstract
Melito (fl. 170–180) was a Christian leader at Sardis in Asia Minor; he was a prolific author with an excellent literary and rhetorical training and was read by Clement of Alexandria, Origen, and Eusebius. Near‐contemporaries describe his asceticism, prophecy, and links to John the Evangelist; later, he is called a bishop. Little is known of his life.
