Research of the Giant Magnetostrictive Fule Injector

This paper studied a giant magnetostrictive fuel injector, which used a giant magnetostrictive actuator as the driving device. The magnetic structure of the giant magnetostrictive fuel injector was designed. The magnetic field of the giant magnetostrictive fuel injector was analyzed by using the finite element method. The total output displacements were computed at various current density levels in driving coil. The results show that the relationship between the input current and the output displacement is approximately linearity. By adjusting the current in driving coil, the output displacement can be linearly controlled, the injector opening size is changed, and then the precise control of stepless fuel flow is realized.
