811 Single Institutional Experience of Savi Scout® Localization Procedures

Abstract Aim Breast conserving surgery, especially with advances in oncoplastic surgery, has become increasingly common and is now the worldwide standard care of practice in order to avoid unnecessary mastectomies. With the introduction of new localization technologies for breast lesions like SAVI Scout®, more efficient scheduling and improved surgeon and patient experiences are being reported. We have introduced SAVI Scout® at the Beacon Hospital, Dublin, in 2023. The aim of our audit is to report our institutional experience of 87 cases using SAVI Scout® for localization. Method This is a retrospective audit of 87 cases of SAVI Scout® localization cases since January 2023. We reviewed electronic records of SAVI Scout® localized patients. Cases were identified through MDT. Indication for surgery, radiological parameters (size, calcification, date of localization), surgical data (including presence of SAVI Scout®, and clip on specimen radiograph), number and status of margins, specimen size and weight, re-excision rate and development of complications (hematoma/infection/seroma), Savi related issues (migration/failure of detection) were noted. Results There were 87 SAVI Scout® localized excisions since January 2023 at our institute. We achieved 100% successful lesion excision. 38 diagnostic and 52 therapeutic excisions were performed. There were 5 re-excisions for margin clearance. We reported 2 cases of hematoma and both required surgical evacuation. Conclusions From our experience we report a fast-learning curve, better scheduling efficiency, low rate of re-excision as per national benchmark along with a low rate of post operative complications like hematoma/seroma/infection.
