A Study on the Relationship Between Parenting Stress and Parenting Knowledge of Young Children’sparents Based on the PSI-SF Parent-Child Stress Scale
View through CrossRef
Objective: This study investigates the relationship between parenting stress and parenting knowledge among Chinese parents of young children, focusing on the impact of the two-child policy and access to professional parenting resources.
Theoretical Framework: The research framework includes 12 literature reviews, a selection of research methods, and a specific implementation of data analysis. The degree of stress faced by families is assessed by measuring family coping ability.
Method: Data were collected from 127 parents in Shanxi Province using the PSI-SF scale. Multiple linear regression analysis examined the effects of employment status, number of children, and parenting knowledge acquisition.
Results and Discussion: Employment status (β=-0.067, p=0.458) and number of children (β=-0.048, p=0.584) showed no significant association with parenting stress. However, parenting knowledge learning was positively correlated with stress (β=0.218, p=0.016). The model explained only 2.9% of the variance (adjusted R²=0.029), suggesting unmeasured factors dominate stress dynamics.
Research Implications: This study provides empirical data for the academic discussion on parenting stress and also offers practical suggestions for improvement for policymakers and social service agencies.
Originality/Value: It provides a new perspective on the generation of parenting stress and points out the main sources of stress faced by parents in the context of rapidly changing policies and economic backgrounds. In particular, it emphasizes the necessity of improving access to parenting knowledge, and suggests that policymakers and relevant institutions should focus on establishing and promoting professional parenting learning platforms when promoting parenting support policies, and enhance parents' parenting confidence and ability through training, lectures and online learning resources, thereby reducing their parenting stress. to promote SDG3 on ensuring healthy lifestyles and promoting the well-being of people of all ages.
