Ritual wine cups

Rituals were exceptionally important during the Shang Dynasty, when it was believed that the world would suffer if these were not correctly performed. During these rituals, gifts of food and drink were presented in bronze vessels to please the ancestors, who represented the living in the world of the gods. There are dragons on the base of the trumpet-shaped cup and bird-like creatures
on the body of the lidded cup.
