Enrico Morselli in Turin

Enrico Morselli’s years in Turin represent the most important period of his career, because they earned him notoriety and esteem in the European scientific community. Morselli joined Turin to lead the Asylum and the clinical teaching of the nervous and mental disease clinic. He also created a remarkable editorial project, the Journal of Scientific Philosophy, which hosted pieces written by many among the leading exponents of the European positivist culture: from Spencer to Haeckel, from Kraepelin to Bunge. Disagreements with the president of the Asylum prompted him to resign, but Morselli kept his university teaching roles. However, when the Asylum management in Genoa became available, due to the early death of his friend Dario Maragliano, he moved in as a sort of buen retiro, although tired and disappointed.
