The history of the Manasija monastery during the first four centuries of its existence is poorly known. A few brief mentions of this monastery could be found in historical sources. Without any pretensions to exhaustiveness, this work offers readers an overview of the known facts from the history of the Manasija monastery, based first on a preliminary reading of the historical material — old written monuments, annals and genealogies, records, published Ottoman defters and other relevant documents, and then the available litera- ture. This paper offers an overview of the history of the Manasija monastery in the period from the foundation of the monastery to the liberation from the Ottomans, that is, from the beginning of the 15th to the beginning of the 19th century. References to the used historical sources are given in square brack- ets (in the form of abbreviations, for which solutions are given at the end of the paper), and references to the literature are in the footnotes below the text.
