Secure Data Transmission in VANETs for Philological Field Expeditions and Mobile Language Labs

View through CrossRef
Philological fieldwork is essential in documenting endangered languages and indigenous knowledge domains, often acquiring sensitive information from the region's remote cultural and linguistic data. Mobile linguistic laboratories equipped with VANETs enhance real-time data transfer. Nonetheless, such communication is subject to harsh cybersecurity risks such as eavesdropping, spoofing, and denial of service attacks owing to the uncontrolled and dynamic environment present in VANETs. This research proposes a complete, lightweight hybrid security framework designed for the specific field of philology that underscores philological field security requirements: confidentiality, privacy, integrity, authentication, and availability. The framework employs symmetric key cryptography, trust-based node profiling, and lightweight privacy-preserving cryptographic techniques crafted for mobile resource-constrained nodes. Simulations implemented in the NS-3 show that the developed framework enhances data integrity and operational performance while effectively dealing with risks commonly associated with VANETs. The results demonstrate the model's efficiency for securing linguistics fieldwork, as it sustains high packet delivery ratios and low latency even during attacks, proving its scalability and robustness. This paper builds a context-specific mobile philological expedition design through an integrated AI threat detection system and edge computing for adaptive responsiveness to the system
Title: Secure Data Transmission in VANETs for Philological Field Expeditions and Mobile Language Labs
Description:
This paper builds a context-specific mobile philological expedition design through an integrated AI threat detection system and edge computing for adaptive responsiveness to the system.
