Theodor Mintrops komische Märchen in Bildern (1855-1866) / Theodor Mintrop's comic fairy tales in pictures (1855-1866)

Theodor Mintrop’s posthumously published “fairy tale in 70 pictures”, König Heinzelmann’s Liebe (“King Heinzelmann’s Love”), of 1875 is based on drawings of 1866 that are in their turn based on pictures for Anna Rose (1839-1886) of 1855 and 1860. All of the drawings are illustrated here in colour and in a large format and are accompanied by commentaries in German and English. Like the drawings for Minna Bozi, née Rose, of 1855-1857, these works are characterised by Mintrop’s playful as well as artistically innovative humour.
