Despite its high productivity, the terracotta production of Poseidonia (Paestum) only produced a manageable wealth of figurative types. Typical for these workshops were enthroned female statuettes dressed in polos, chiton and cloak. They represent the goddess Hera, who is depicted in this traditional iconography only in Paestum: seated on a throne, holding in her hands a sacrificial bowl and a pomegranate or a bowl of fruit.
