Abstract
Steven Lukes is an internationally renowned political theorist and sociologist at New York University and has a significant presence as a left‐wing intellectual. His work on Émile Durkheim, concepts of power, and Marxism constitute important contributions to political thought. Lukes combines a radical sociological sensibility, a commitment to Enlightenment reason and moral individualism, and good humour and wit.
