View through CrossRef
The presented article discusses the system of measures taken to protect human health and ensure safety in the field of environmental protection during emergencies. In our modern era, people are constantly exposed to various types of threats in their living conditions. Every year, thousands of natural disasters, accidents, various dangerous events, and sabotage occur in the world, including in our country, which cause numerous human casualties and significant material losses. The rapid expansion of production capabilities in our country, the development of energy and transport, intensive extraction of natural resources, the widespread use of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture, and land reclamation have led to ecological disasters in a number of regions of our republic. The main task of environmental protection during emergencies is to ensure normal (comfortable) conditions for human activity and life, to protect people and the natural environment from the effects of harmful factors exceeding the normative and permissible limits. Ensuring safety in the human living environment helps to protect people's lives and health by reducing injuries and various types of dangerous diseases. Here, the main source of safety of human life during emergencies is the prevention of potential danger and the implementation of measures against it. Potential danger is mainly a universal feature in the process of human interaction with the environment. The article reflects, in addition to the natural hazards occurring in our time, various types of dangerous and harmful factors of anthropogenic nature, as well as protective measures against these dangers.
In the field of environmental protection during emergencies, the following should be reflected in the field of human health protection and ensuring safety:
- preparation of the population for emergencies and environmental protection in the field of their safety;
- a unified state system for the prevention and elimination of emergencies, its structure and tasks;
- assessing the possible risk of emergencies and taking measures to eliminate their consequences;
- mastering the methodology for developing psychological stability of behavior in emergencies;
- organizing rescue operations in various types of emergencies;
- characteristics of natural, technogenic and social hazards;
- principles, rules and requirements for safe behavior and protection in various conditions and emergencies.
The constant increase in damage from natural and man-made disasters is largely determined by rapidly developing urbanization. The settlement of people in cities, their interaction with hazardous industries, and environmental degradation increase the risk of social and economic losses during various types of disasters.
