Oxford Textbook of Colorectal Cancer

Abstract
Colorectal cancer remains one of the most common cancers in both men and women globally with almost 2 million cases and 1 million deaths per year. The morbidity and mortality from colorectal cancer is a significant health and financial burden worldwide, with incidence rising particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The last 30 years have witnessed incredible advances in terms of screening implementation, our understanding of colorectal carcinogenesis and the genetic basis of the disease, surgical techniques, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, the evolution of adjuvant and neoadjuvant treatment, biological therapies, and most recently, the breakthrough of immunotherapy. As part of the Oxford Textbooks in Oncology series, the Oxford Textbook of Colorectal Cancer covers many of the new advances in colorectal cancer and poses questions on the future avenues of research. It explores the role of artificial intelligence in diagnostics and prognosis prediction, as well as reviewing the patient as a whole, describing the third healthcare revolution, including the important central role of others involved in the patient pathway, such as the colorectal nurse specialist. With contributions from a huge variety of internationally renowned specialists, this comprehensive, multidisciplinary textbook covers a diverse array of topics. It will be an accessible and useful guide to trainees and established oncologists, surgeons, specialist nurses and pharmacists, as well as to anyone with an interest in colorectal cancer.
