Peptide Hormone Secretion
View through CrossRef
Abstract
In this, the first of two volumes, attention is focused on procedures used in the isolation of polypeptide hormones, and their identification and structural analysis. It also covers the development of sensitive bioassay and immunoassay techniques, current methods for tissue localization of peptide hormones and their encoding mRNAs, plus techniques for the characterization of peptide hormone receptors. Wherever possible, the general principles and strategies on which the methods are based are given so that the techniques will have a wide application to biologically active peptides involved in neurotransmission, growth regulation, differentiation, and vasoregulation.
